WHERE TO STAY
& WHAT TO DO
Please note that June is the beginning of peak tourism season in Tuscany! It is advised that you secure your stay sooner than later.
Given the jaw-dropping views, air, wine, and food, it is also encouraged that you soak up as much of the beauty as you can in the days surrounding our weekend together. If you plan to enter the region early and/or stay later, check out our list of recommendations for what to do, where to eat, what towns to visit, etc.!
And in that vein, we highly recommend anyone who can to try and get to Italy a little bit early so that your bodies and bellies can get adjusted (you’ll enjoy the celebration and food much more if your circadian rhythyms and appetites are aligned with the time zone). Whichever city you fly into, or somewhere in Tuscany, will do great when it comes to getting you accustomed to the eating times and large portions.

TRANSPORTATION
The two closest airports to the venue are Florence (FLR) and Rome (FCO). Rome is a 3 hour drive from Montalcino, but there are direct flights from major cities across the US, where most of you live. Florence is closer, about a 2 hour drive, but there are no direct flights from anywhere in the US. All flights there will have a layover somewhere in Europe, depending on the airline. We visited via a nonstop flight to Rome ourselves and had a smooth time at the airport, getting through customs, and renting a car.
Cars:
Speaking of renting a car, for anyone able to do so, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND renting a car, the best and easiest method to get to the venue and explore Tuscany. For anyone unable to or uncomfortable with driving in Italy, we will either find someone for you to carpool with or arrange for alternate transport at a set time (from Florence only; Rome is too far to facilitate arranged transport).
When booking, be sure to specify automatic if you don't know how to drive stick, as the cheapest options will be manual. The roads in Tuscany, particularly in the towns, can be fairly narrow, so we'd recommend sticking with a small-to-medium sized vehicle to make navigating them easier.
NOTE: If flying into Rome a few days early or staying to explore for a while afterward, we do not recommend using a car to explore the city. It is a very walkable city, with simple-to-navigate transit options, and parking is limited and expensive. Picking up your car from the airport just before you leave for Tuscany/ returning your car as soon as you re-enter the city after the wedding is best; you can take a taxi to and from the airport easily.
Getting to the villa:
As seen in the above video, the trip to Montalcino takes you on a scenic journey along gorgeous winding roads and past rolling, luxurious hills. For detailed instructions for where to go when you’re getting close, [CLICK HERE].

Additionally, let us know of any food allergies and/or dietary restrictions that we and the chef should be aware of.
As most of you know, we are pescatarian so, barring vegan/gluten-free options, our main course will be a traditional fish dish. If seafood isn’t your thing though, let us know and we will make accommodations.

ATTIRE & DRESS CODE
That being said, Saturday’s ceremony is a semi-formal to formal event. Think what you’d wear to an upscale restaurant: satin slip dresses, linen suits, blouses with skirts, dress shirts with slacks, sharp jumpsuits, dress shorts, floral patterns, kaftans, etc.! The formal bit is for those who love an excuse to dress up even more: go crazy. For everyone in the semi-formal camp: just please no business casual. We don’t want to think about our commercial obligations.
Steer clear of dark colors. And no pastels. Easter will have passed already, and as you’ve probably noticed, the infinite joy of the color wheel is a key part of our theme! Explore the worlds of bold blues (no navy please), fire engine reds (yes red is ok!), fun yellows, grass greens, pinks, and more.
Save the whites for the March NYC wedding; for neutrals to pad your colors, try beiges, tans, and greys. For this wedding, the bride and groom will be wearing white, with all of you guests bringing the vibrant color!

Lastly of course: check the weather before you go!
SPEECHES
If you’d like to give a speech, you are welcome to share *heartfelt but pithy* thoughts during our reception, using your passage as an anchor!
You do not have to read your chosen passage aloud, but if you’re wanting to give a speech, then please be prepared to do so. Thank you!!!

THE #NYC WEDDING CELEBRATION
We invite you to come celebrate with us afterward with a special dinner hosted at Hupo Szechuan! There will be music, a delicious fixed Szechuan menu, titilating drinks, and of course, cake.
WHEN & WHERE
HUPO Szechuan
10-07 50th Ave
Long Island City, NY

This is one of our favorite restaurants back from when we spent over five years living in Queens. They don’t yet have a star but are in the Michelin guide! We can’t wait to share with you all of their worldly flavors that have made us weep on many occasions.

WHERE TO STAY
& WHAT TO DO
Take note that this date does fall on a Tuesday and that dinner starts around 6 pm: you might be traveling during rush hour. Leaving your place of residence a little early should help avoid any MTA/grid-lock issues!
Lastly, if you’re coming for a long weekend the dates prior, it may still be a bit chilly or even wet! But there are many exciting things going on in the city in late March, like the New York Botanical Garden’s Annual Orchid Show, the Biennial Showcase at the Whitney Museum of American Art, performances at the MET Opera, and more!

Additionally, let us know of any food allergies and/or dietary restrictions that we and the chefs should be aware of.

ATTIRE & DRESS CODE
This Tuesday evening affair is a cocktail attire event. This means a touch more elevated than semi-formal, with structure and gravitas: what you might wear to an evening cocktail party. Think pant suits, skirt suits, cape suits, jumpsuits, and cocktail dresses.
The bride and groom will be dressed in rich color, and would love for all guests to wear bridal whites, ivories, or creams, head to toe, to root the occasion in a nuptial space.

Lastly of course: check the weather before you come!
